(Tw for forced pregnancy, rape and self harm)
My mother was forced to carry a child, a product of rape, into the world when I was young. Living in a shitty Libyan slum she had two choices. One, to attempt an abortion herself risking her own life and the well being of the children she already had to take care of, or suffer through pregnancy and childbirth.
I was there when she gave birth, she had a dead look in her eyes and begged for death. The complete opposite of the births of my siblings. Barely able to care for us, she gave this child up. Probably to never be adopted and probably to never leave that slum.
My mom did choose life when she gave birth to me and my siblings. She is also not so selfish to wish what happened to her on others. She supports choice in every way. If you were really caring your slogan would prompt people to “Choose what’s best” for them or “Choose”.
It’s not a choice if it’s your only option.
