Deleted that last ask
Guys, I don’t know if my language isn’t clear here? Obviously, after that ask, it’s not, so I’m sorry.
I’m not telling people to “do activism” differently, I’m asking them to be self-aware enough to know whether or not what they’re currently doing is enough. What “enough” means is up to them.
I’m not telling the more well-known blogs to stop posting rage-inducing clickbait. Hell, that shit’s way more interesting than a textbook, and the language can be a lot more accessible, too.
I’m not telling people to stop writing about their experiences. That’s the LAST thing I would ever want someone to take from what I’ve said.
I’m not telling people to stop calling out ignorance and hate. I draw my line at sending threats, but that’s about it.
If you don’t think anything I’ve said applies to you, then please believe me when I say it doesn’t. I know that there are some readers for whom making it through the day is revolutionary and legitimate activism. I know that there are some readers who risk everything by merely existing. I know some people work themselves to the bone already, and all they want to do on Tumblr is write and be safe in their community.
And I know that there are some privileged-ass people out there willing to let others do the work for them. And I know that they know who they are.
