Weekly News Roundup

Here are a few of the stories we’ve been paying attention to:

That’s all we’ve got. What have you been reading?

This is pretty disgusting.

“A medical problem versus a choice to have sex”; because when men have sex (that’s what Viagra is specifically for, assisting men in having sex, not solely a medical problem apart from sex) it’s not a choice, but if women need birth control, they could just choose abstinence. So why can’t men with sexual dysfunction choose abstinence?

He sounded a little testy at her suggestion, don’t you think?

Ahh, I crack myself up.

But seriously. Hormonal birth control is used to treat a lot of things besides preventing unwanted pregnancy. A simple Google search could tell you that, Mr. Hannity, but I think that’s a bit too much to expect of you.

““Many women who get pregnant are blasted out of their minds when they have sex. They’re not going to use birth control””

Bill O’Reilly (Fox News, 7/21/11)

I didn’t get what he meant by “blasted out of their minds” at first and I was all “Uh, yeah, that’s how you know it’s good, girl.”

But I guess he means “drunk.”

ETA: You know what I didn’t even notice? He’s talking about the proposal to mandate no co-pay on birth control. Bill O’Reilly doesn’t even know how birth control works. You don’t take the birth control pill right before sex, nor do you insert an IUD or inject Depo-Provera.

Oh, Billo.
